Terms & Conditions | SwimsafeUK

Acceptances of Swim Safe UK Ltd Terms and conditions

Parents, Guardians and Adult learners accept the Swim Safe UK Ltd terms and conditions at the time of booking when payment is made.

Condition of Pool Premises

Whilst Swim Safe UK Ltd will make all reasonable efforts to ensure that the condition of the pool premises including the changing rooms, washing facilities, the pool and poolside area are in suitable condition, they do not accept liability for any injury to a swimmer which may be caused by any defect and further advise that any claim arising from such a defect must be addressed to the proprietors of the pool premises.

Teaching Policies, Procedures and Parental Responsibilities

All Swim Safe UK Ltd Swimming Teachers are ASA Level 2 qualified and all Assistant Swimming Teachers are ASA Level 1 or above qualified. All our teachers have undergone enhanced CRB disclosure checks. It is our policy to provide a temporary replacement Swimming Teachers in the event of any instructor being absence. We reserve the right to replace Swimming Teachers, if necessary, once the term has started.

Swimming Teachers are only responsible for pupils during their swimming lessons and parents and/or guardians are responsible at all other times. The swimming lesson begins when the Swimming Teacher accepts charge of the pupil and ends when the lesson finishes.

Parents must remain on the premises whilst the pupil is in their lesson. This is imperative in case of the unlikely event of a medical emergency, building evacuation or other emergency situation.

Parents/guardians must never distract the teacher during a lesson and should direct all communication through the Swim Safe UK Ltd coordinator. Parents/guardians attempting to speak with a teacher during the period that lessons are in progress is dangerous as it will distract the teacher from the supervision of the pupils in their lesson.

A quality assurance check on each teacher’s performance is performed each term by an internal verifier.

Special Needs

Swim Safe UK Ltd cannot accept responsibility for the medical condition or other special needs of any swimmer unless full disclosure of the details have been made to Swim Safe UK Ltd by the swimmer or the parent or guardian of a swimmer when first registering the swimmer for lessons or following any medical condition being confirmed during a course of lessons after the swimmer has been accepted for tuition.

Pupil Illness

If your child is unwell, we recommend that you do not bring them to their swimming lesson.
If your child has been ill within the last 14 days with diarrhea they should notattend their lesson.

Any swimmer known to be or found to be suffering from any infectious ailment or condition will not be allowed to participate in the lesson and it is the responsibility of each swimmer or (in the case of a child swimmer) the parent or guardian of the swimmer to ensure that the swimmer is fit and well enough to participate. Swim Safe UK Ltd will not accept liability for any infection passed to a swimmer by another swimmer in the class or in the pool.

Swimming Lesson Programme

The ‘Learn to Swim’ programme runs for a minimum of 35 weeks throughout the year, split into five/six terms, which track the school term.

Swim Safe UK Ltd Term dates, where possible, will run in conjunction with the school terms and where possible will take into account the school holiday periods. As public holidays fall mid-term, some lessons will take place on public holidays.

The ‘Learn to Swim’ programme classes are held over a 30-minute timeslot. 1-2-1 classes are held over a 30-minute timeslot unless different arrangements are made at the time of booking.

Pupil to Teacher ratios are no more than 7 pupils to 1 teacher in all Swim Safe UK Ltd lessons.

Swimming Lesson Dress Code

We advise that all children should wear tight fitting costumes/trunks. (Baggy costumes/trunks can restrict movement)

In the interests of hygiene swimmers must shower before entering the pool, and all pupils with long hear should wear swimming cap or ensure it is securely tied back.

Chewing gum is not allowed during lesson.

All plasters and hair clips must be removed before swimming in case they come off in the water and then cause damage to pool filters.

Where possible, pupils should refrain from wearing goggles in Discovery Duckling, Duckling and Stage 1-2 as this can restrict progression.

Pupil Progression

All pupils on the ‘Learn to Swim’ programme work towards the Swim England Pre-School and Learn to Swim framework for Teaching Swimming. Swimming Teachers continually assess all pupils’ progression throughout the lesson and term.

Progression of all pupils will be at the judgment of the teacher and the Swim Safe UK Ltd swimming coordinator, in accordance with the progression within the criteria of each Swim England award. Pupils will be moved during term time if they meet the award outcomes required for movement to the next award and will not be deliberately held back until the end of a term before progressing. (During re-enrollment is the only time this is restricted).

Progress reports for all pupils on the ‘Learn to Swim’ programme will be issued in the last week of each term. All pupils must complete the outcomes within each of the awards before progressing onto the next award. Upon completion of an award the pupil will be issued with a notification email, where you can purchase a certificate and badge from Swim Safe UK Ltd web site.

Teachers of pupils that are ready to progress onto the next award will issue the Swim Safe UK Ltd coordinator with a moving up notification. Once this has been received the pupils parent/and or guardian will be informed of the change of stage, along with available time, day and swimming teachers available.

Due to the continuous progressive nature of our programme, and the variety of ability levels within each session, we cannot guarantee a specific time slot on progression, as a space within the next stage may not always be immediately available.

Consideration will be made to siblings and other family members.
